Job summary

Matchtech Group is seeking a GIS & ArcGIS Mapping Operator to act as the central GIS resource across electricity, utilities and infrastructure projects. You will produce accurate mapping and spatial analyses to support planning, wayleaves, stakeholder engagement, construction and project delivery.

You will work with project managers, consents/wayleave teams and environmental stakeholders to create and maintain spatial datasets, delivering high-quality outputs using Esri ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in GIS, geography or related field.
• Hands-on ArcGIS Pro experience required.
• Strong ArcGIS Online experience; professional mapping outputs and GIS datasets.
• Good understanding of coordinate systems and projections.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality maps and mapping products using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
• Maintain GIS databases, spatial datasets and mapping standards (QA/metadata).
• Deliver mapping to support wayleaves/servitudes, planning/consents, stakeholder engagement and construction.
• Carry out spatial analysis (constraints, buffers, proximity, route options).
• Develop and maintain ArcGIS Online web maps and dashboards; publish layers and services.
• Import and integrate data from survey/GPS, utility records and environmental sources; convert between GIS/CAD/client systems.

We're looking for a GIS & ArcGIS Mapping Operator to act as the central GIS resource supporting electricity, utilities and wider infrastructure projects. You'll produce accurate, professional mapping and spatial analysis to support planning, wayleaves/servitudes, stakeholder engagement, construction and project delivery.

Working with project managers, engineers, consents/wayleave teams and environmental stakeholders, you'll create and maintain spatial datasets and deliver high-quality outputs using Esri ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.

Key responsibilities

• Produce high-quality maps and mapping products (ArcGIS Pro / ArcGIS Online)
• Maintain GIS databases, spatial datasets and mapping standards (incl. QA/metadata)
• Deliver mapping to support wayleaves/servitudes, planning/consents (incl. Section 37), stakeholder engagement, construction and environmental constraints
• Carry out spatial analysis (constraints, buffers, proximity, access routes, route selection support)
• Develop and maintain ArcGIS Online web maps and dashboards; publish/maintain layers and services
• Import and integrate data from survey/GPS, utility records, environmental and construction sources; convert between GIS/CAD/client systems

What we're looking for

Essential

• Degree / HNC / HND (or equivalent experience) in GIS, Geography, Geospatial Science, Environmental Management, Surveying or similar
• Strong hands-on experience with ArcGIS Pro
• Strong hands-on experience with ArcGIS Online
• Experience producing professional mapping outputs and managing GIS datasets
• Good understanding of coordinate systems and projections
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple mapping requests
• Full UK driving licence

Desirable

• Experience in the utilities sector / electricity distribution or transmission projects (SSEN / SHEPD / SHET beneficial)
• Land referencing, wayleaves/servitudes, landowner engagement mapping
• Environmental/planning constraint mapping experience
• QGIS, AutoCAD, FME
• Survey123 / Field Maps / Collector / Experience Builder
• Python for GIS automation and/or SQL databases
• Power BI (and strong Excel)
