The Full Stack Developer Opportunity:

As a Full-stack Developer, you’ll work directly with our Lead Developer and be an integral member of the leadership team. You’ll have a voice in architectural decisions and product direction, working closely with the wider team and directors.

You’ll help shape the development culture and methodology, implement scalable features, and maintain robust documentation. Your feedback and suggestions will actively influence the evolution of the platform.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Developing and enhancing our LAMP-based web application using PHP, Laravel, React, and MySQL
2. Reviewing and refactoring existing codebases for performance and maintainability
3. Designing and consuming RESTful APIs
4. Implementing and maintaining development methodologies to ensure timely delivery
5. Writing unit and integration tests using PHPUnit and Jest.js
6. Collaborating in cross-functional planning and design sessions
7. Ensuring compliance with security and data protection best practices
8. Participating in regular team meetings and reviews
9. Documenting all code and architecture decisions clearly

About you:

Essential:

1. 3+ years of experience as a PHP developer
2. Strong knowledge of PHP 7+ and experience with Laravel or similar frameworks
3. Solid understanding of OOP principles and design patterns
4. Proficient with MySQL and database design, large datasets, and queries
5. Experience with asynchronous processing and queueing systems
6. Proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (React and jQuery preferred)
7. Familiarity with Git for version control
8. Test-driven development experience with PHPUnit and Jest
9. Experience integrating third-party services and REST APIs
10. Exposure to AWS and distributed system architecture

Bonus Skills:

1. Experience refactoring and modernising legacy systems
2. Familiarity with Docker
3. Experience with responsive design and mobile-first interfaces
