Job summary

Hamilton Barnes Associates Limited is recruiting a contract networking engineer in London to help design and implement enterprise and data centre networking for an advanced computing platform. You will own Layer 2/3 design, BGP routing, and GCP networking, with hybrid interconnect and production commissioning, from design through to handover.

The role is remote-first with limited onsite attendance in London, offers a clearly scoped SoW, and provides hands-on ownership and documentation

Qualifications

• Extensive enterprise and data centre networking experience.
• Deep knowledge of L2 segmentation, L3 routing, BGP and firewalling.
• GCP networking experience including VPC and IAM‑aware access.
• MikroTik RouterOS production routing experience.
• Experience with hybrid connectivity platforms such as Equinix Fabric or Megaport.
• Audit-friendly, security-conscious network design.

Responsibilities

• Design L2 and L3 architecture with routing design.
• Implement MikroTik routing in production.
• Design and implement GCP networking and VPCs.
• Validate GCP against hybrid data centre interconnect.
• Build auditable GCP environment for management and traffic.
• Produce full documentation, handover materials, and final reports.
• Support deployment and commissioning.
• Deploy test rig infrastructure.
