Job summary

Not For Profit People is seeking a Donkey Welfare Adviser to cover South Wales on a fixed-term maternity contract. The role is home-based with travel, 37.5 hours per week, from 14 December 2026 to 3 March 2028. Salary £40,389 per annum with a competitive pension and holiday entitlement.

The Adviser will promote welfare, deliver stakeholder training, gather evidence for welfare investigations, and support a rehoming scheme using strong equine expertise and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of animal welfare legislation.
• Understanding of equine behaviour with practical field experience.
• Ability to influence changes in challenging situations.
• Excellent communication and training delivery to diverse groups.
• Strong interpersonal skills and relationship building.

Responsibilities

• Promote welfare and provide guidance to audiences; share best practices.
• Communicate effectively with diverse groups in emotive situations.
• Deliver high-quality training to stakeholders with available resources.
• Respond to enquiries and support donkey placement and care decisions.
• Support rehoming schemes and collaborate with enforcement when needed.
