Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Data Scientist to join a defence transformation programme. The role is remote with fortnightly visits to the Andover site, full-time permanent contract, and involves applying AI, machine learning, forecasting and predictive analytics to asset management, maintenance optimisation and logistics.

You will work across engineering, maintenance, digital and operations, presenting insights to varied stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience using Python, SQL and data science tools to analyse large datasets and deliver actionable insights.
• Strong background in machine learning, predictive modelling, forecasting and statistical analysis.
• Experience developing and implementing data-driven solutions that improve operational or business performance.

Responsibilities

• Build predictive models to support maintenance optimisation and asset management decision-making.
• Develop machine learning and forecasting solutions that improve equipment availability and operational readiness.
• Transform complex operational and telematics data into actionable business insights.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, digital and operational teams to solve business challenges through data science.
• Present analytical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
