Job summary

SF Recruitment in Nottingham is seeking a Credit Controller on a minimum 12–month fixed-term contract with potential extension. The role involves not only chasing debts but deep problem-solving around income, cash matching and reconciliations.

Salary is GBP 27,000–GBP 28,000, with 30–37.5 hours per week. Predominantly remote with the office visits a couple of times a month; an Excel test will form part of the interview process.

Qualifications

• Around 2 years' experience within an accounts/finance environment.
• Strong Excel skills – VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs and Pivot Tables essential.
• Systems-savvy approach and confidence working with large volumes of manual data.
• Strong problem-solving and investigative skills.
• Good attention to detail.
• Confident communication skills.
• Good understanding of accounting processes.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of queries.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and chase outstanding income in line with existing processes.
• Investigate why payments or income have not appeared correctly within the system.
• Troubleshoot system and reporting issues and establish where money is within the process.
• Work closely with the income and cash matching team to resolve unmatched payments.
• Investigate historic items and make corrections where required.
• Respond to queries from advisors where income is not showing correctly.
• Communicate with advisors by phone and email regarding outstanding balances.
• Produce and provide debtor statements.
• Prepare daily cash files and monthly write-offs.
• Support weekly and month-end reporting.
• Bank cheques received.
• Provide occasional support across other areas of the accounts function.
