Clayton Legal is recruiting for a Costs Draftsman to join a leading national law firm on a remote basis. You will manage your own caseload, drafting schedules of costs and bills of costs, and negotiate settlements.

The Costs Team handles high‑value costs litigation, costs budgeting, appeals, group litigation, and complex technical challenges. This role suits a self‑starter who can take ownership from start to finish.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing your own caseload
• Drafting points of dispute
• MS Office proficiency
• In-depth knowledge of CPR and relevant legislation
• Excellent communication, organisation and research skills
• Meticulous with adherence to guidelines and procedures
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Desirable: Clinical negligence costs experience

Responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload including schedules of costs and bills of costs
• Negotiate settlements on complex adverse costs claims on multi-track matters
• Take ownership of files from start to finish and work autonomously
