Job summary

Canonical is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts across multiple jurisdictions while supporting global sales and partnerships. This remote role can be based in EMEA or AMER, with the option to work from our London office.

The ideal candidate holds a law degree (JD or equivalent) and a practising licence (or is progressing towards it), with strong drafting and presentation skills in English. International travel of 2–4 times per year is expected.

Qualifications

• Academic excellence in school and university.
• A degree in law, JD or equivalent, and active licence to practise law or current progress towards that.
• Driven with a track record of going above and beyond expectations.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
• Excellent drafting and presentation skills in English.
• Business-level written and spoken English.
• Willingness to travel internationally 2–4 times per year for company events.

Responsibilities

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts with customers and vendors globally.
• Providing legal support to internal clients across Canonical’s sales organisation.
• Interfacing with cross-functional teams to support company initiatives.
• Utilising Canonical’s contract management system to ensure accurate data for signed contracts.
• Collaborating with local counsel in multiple jurisdictions to seek and implement advice.
