Job summary

Spurgeons Children’s Charity is seeking Children’s Sessional Counsellors for remote work across Kent and Sussex, with travel within listed areas. You will provide one-to-one counselling to children and young people, maintain confidential records, and liaise with safeguarding leads and professionals as required.

Qualifications

• Qualified to Level 5 Diploma (minimum Level 4) in Counselling Children and Young People.
• Registered member of a recognised professional counselling body (e.g. BACP, UKCP, NCPS, PTUK).
• At least 100 counselling hours with children and 100 hours with adults, ideally including school-based experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one counselling for children and young people, offering safe, supportive and professional sessions.
• Act on safeguarding concerns appropriately and liaise with safeguarding leads, parents, and professionals where required.
• Work independently while keeping accurate records, managing referrals, evaluations, and consent forms.
• Collaborate with schools, social care teams, and health providers to support the wellbeing of children and families.
• Maintain professional standards through supervision, training, and CPD, staying up to date with legislation and best practice.
• Represent Spurgeons positively, reflecting our ethos and commitment to transforming the lives of children and young people.
