Placements24 is seeking a Chemical Process Simulation Engineer for a remote-first role with a global team. You will develop and validate steady-state and dynamic models using Aspen Plus, HYSYS, CHEMCAD, and PRO/II to support design, optimization, and troubleshooting of chemical processes.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering (Master's preferred) and 4–6 years of relevant experience, plus strong thermodynamics and reaction kinetics knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering; Master's preferred.
• 4–6 years' experience in process simulation and modeling in chemical/petrochemical industries.
• Proficiency with leading process simulation software (Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, CHEMCAD, PRO/II).
• Strong thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, and mass/heat transfer fundamentals.
• Experience in dynamic simulation and control-system modeling is a plus.
• Good written and verbal communication for remote collaboration.

About the Role Our client, a global leader in chemical process technology, is seeking a highly skilled Chemical Process Simulation Engineer to join their dynamic, fully remote team. This role is crucial for developing, validating, and applying advanced process simulation models to support design, optimization, and troubleshooting efforts across a wide range of chemical processes. You will work on challenging projects, providing critical engineering insights that drive efficiency, safety, and innovation. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in chemical engineering principles and extensive experience with industry-standard simulation software. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, calibrate, and validate steady-state and dynamic process simulation models using software such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, PRO/II, or similar.
• Utilize simulation models for process design, optimization, debottlenecking, and troubleshooting of chemical plants.
• Perform sensitivity analyses and scenario modeling to evaluate process performance under different operating conditions.
• Collaborate remotely with project teams, R&D, and operations personnel to define simulation objectives and interpret results.
• Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) based on simulation outputs.
• Assist in the scale-up of processes from pilot to commercial scale through rigorous simulation studies.
• Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations summarizing simulation findings and recommendations.
• Stay current with the latest developments in process simulation technology and methodologies.
• Provide technical support and training to other engineers on simulation best practices.
• Contribute to the development of company standards for process simulation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
• Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in process simulation and modeling within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• Proficiency with leading process simulation software packages (e.g., Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, CHEMCAD, PRO/II).
• Strong understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals, including thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, and mass/heat transfer.
• Experience in dynamic simulation and control system modeling is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
• Experience with thermodynamic property packages and reaction kinetics is essential.
• Familiarity with data analysis tools is advantageous.
