DataAnnotation is seeking a backend-focused engineer to stress-test service design, data models, and APIs, exposing where reasoning breaks under load. You’ll write answers a strong backend engineer would stand behind and help ensure robust, scalable systems.

The candidate will work on designing correct architectures, addressing race conditions, and optimizing database interactions, with emphasis on clear, technical explanations in written form.

Qualifications

• Experience building backend services in production environments.
• Strong understanding of databases, APIs, and concurrency.
• Clear written English communication is essential.

Responsibilities

• Probe backend reasoning across service design, data modeling, and API contracts and identify design weaknesses.
• Identify failures like race conditions, N+1 queries, bad indexes, and breaking changes in diffs.
• Propose correct designs with explicit scaling and consistency trade-offs.
