Job summary

IBM is seeking an Associate Technical Support Engineer - Confluent to join our EMEA Technical Support team. You will resolve complex issues in distributed streaming platforms, collaborate with customers, and work with Engineering, Product Management, and Professional Services to deliver robust, scalable solutions.

You will investigate Kafka environments and contribute to knowledge bases while developing deep expertise in streaming technologies.

Qualifications

• Two years'+ experience in a technical role (software development, support, SRE etc).
• Experience with distributed systems, databases, messaging systems or data pipelines.
• Ability to read and understand Java code for troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with structured investigations.
• Experience diagnosing Linux-based issues using logs and command-line tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain complex concepts.
• Passion for learning new technologies and distributed streaming platforms.
• Customer-first mindset with a drive to deliver excellent technical support.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve technical issues across Confluent Platform and Confluent Cloud deployments.
• Work directly with enterprise customers to diagnose problems, explain findings, and guide resolutions.
• Collaborate with Engineering to identify product defects, validate fixes, and provide customer feedback.
• Analyze logs, metrics, thread dumps, configurations and runtime behaviour to troubleshoot distributed systems.
• Improve knowledge base by contributing documentation and guides.
• Contribute to internal tooling and automation to improve support efficiency.
• Participate in initiatives to improve support processes and operations.
