Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in the United Kingdom is seeking Assistant Project Managers to support highways and local transport schemes across Scotland, the UK and Ireland. You will work with experienced PMs and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate scope, schedule, cost and quality, helping deliver safe, high‑quality infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Essential: BEng / MEng or MSc in civil engineering or equivalent.
• Essential: Actively working towards CEng or IEng with ICE (preferably).
• Essential: Good understanding of Eurocodes and UK standards such as DMRB and Manual for Streets.
• Essential: Preparation of reports and cost/bill of quantities.
• Essential: Assisting with resolution of engineering problems and meeting deadlines.
• Desirable: Experience supporting highways or local transport projects.
• Desirable: Progress towards project management qualifications (APM/PRINCE2/ NECReg).
• Desirable: Full UK driving licence for site visits.

Responsibilities

• Support planning and delivery of highways and local transport projects within scope, programme, budget and quality objectives.
• Maintain project controls: schedules, risk registers, cost data, reporting packs.
• Coordinate inputs from multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality outputs.
• Prepare progress updates, meeting records, change documents for clients.
• Monitor delivery performance and implement corrective actions.
• Develop relationships with clients, stakeholders and internal teams.
