This school in Torquay is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Religious Education Teacher to inspire students and develop their understanding of different faiths, ethical issues, and philosophical debates. The successful candidate will foster respect, critical thinking, and open discussion about religious and moral perspectives. This role begins June 2025.

Duties as a Religious Education Teacher:

1. Plan and deliver engaging lessons on world religions, ethics, and philosophy.
2. Encourage students to explore and analyse religious beliefs, practices, and cultural influences.
3. Promote critical thinking, discussion, and debate on moral and ethical issues.
4. Create an inclusive and respectful classroom environment.
5. Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback.
6. Contribute to extracurricular activities such as faith-based clubs, discussions, or school events.
7. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the Religious Studies curriculum.
8. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of religious, ethical, and philosophical developments.

Ideal Religious Education Teacher:

1. A degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy, Education, or a related field.
2. A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
3. Experience teaching Religious Studies at secondary level.
4. Strong communication and classroom management skills.
5. Passion for religious education and fostering open-minded discussions.
