Job description

Mencap are seeking Relief Support Workers to join our team in Walkley, Sheffield 6.

As a Relief Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will work with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs.

From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their lives.

The Service supports 8 people living in their own flats in the Walkley area of Sheffield. Support varies between individuals, and the ability to work alone is essential.

What we're looking for:

  • A genuine passion for supporting others.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
  • Experience supporting people who use wheelchairs and moving and handling equipment, including hoists.
  • Experience supporting people with Dysphagia and complex eating needs.
  • Experience supporting people with health needs and requiring personal care support.

This role requires you to be a driver.

Contract options:

  • All our services are 24-hour care. We prepare rotas at least 4 weeks in advance, allowing you to plan your personal and social life.
  • There is also a non-contractual sleep-in option, where you will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £62.45.
