Job summary

Mencap in Doncaster is seeking Relief Support Workers to join our dedicated team. You will provide physical and emotional support to individuals with learning disabilities, assist with daily activities, personal care, medications, finances, and activities to help them reach their goals.

We welcome compassionate people with excellent communication skills, a passion for helping others, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. DBS checks and suitable references are required.

Mencap is seeking passionate Relief Support Workers to join our incredible team in Doncaster.

About the role

As a Relief Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs. From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their life.

Our service is home to individuals who require support with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health needs, and communication difficulties. We need Support Workers to provide the physical and emotional support that our people we support need every day. This includes assistance with personal care, medication, finances, activities and everything else to help them achieve their goals and aspirations.

Qualities and Skills Required
  • Relationship Building: Essential for gaining the trust of the people we support, establishing open communication, and building lasting relationships.
  • Patience and Understanding: Important for navigating challenging situations effectively.
  • Conflict-Resolution Techniques: Necessary for managing and resolving conflicts in a constructive manner.
  • Must be a driver and hold a manual driving licence.
