Job description

Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Relief Support Workers to join our incredible team in Belper, Derbyshire.

About the Role

As a Relief Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals we support with learning disabilities. You will work with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities, providing emotional support, and supporting individuals to live as independently as possible.

Services in Belper
Community Support

Support nine individuals in their own homes, helping with domestic tasks, household bills, medication, accessing the community, and teaching life skills such as cooking and budgeting.

Supported Living

Support five individuals in shared homes, assisting with medication, personal care, meal planning, and day centre activities.

  • A genuine passion for supporting others.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
Contract Options & Shift Patterns

Contract: Relief – as and when required.

Shift Times:

  • Days/Evenings: 07:00-10:00, 10:00-15:00, 15:00-22:00
  • Sleep-in shifts: 22:00-07:00 (with an enhanced flat rate payment of £61.20)

All services are 24-hour care, including sleep shifts. Rota planning is done at least 4 weeks in advance to help you plan your personal and social life.

*All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
