Job Description:

Older People’s Services has 8 residential services across Fife, with a team based in each service. You can view each of the service locations, listed at the top of this advert, and will be asked to provide your location preference at interview.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our care home team in Fife Council’s Residential and Day Services (East), on a casual basis, for the position of relief social care worker (night shift).

We are looking for a motivated and driven individual with good values and a genuine interest in the care and support of Older People; with experience of care within a highly complex yet rewarding environment.

The residential care homes in Fife provide ongoing care and support to vulnerable older people: the care homes also supports a STAR unit, respite and day service.

The successful candidate will undertake the keyworker role, this will involve creating, monitoring and reviewing care plans and keeping accurate records of support planning as well as ensuring the service user is being offered the opportunities, experience and the care and support within their care plan.

The Person

  • Must have or be able to work towards: SVQ 3 as required by the Scottish Social Services Council. Within the timeframes set at point of registration, once qualification achieved it is the persons responsibility to inform Scottish Social Services Council accordingly.
  • To ensure you achieve registration with the SSSC as part of the Older people’s residential and day services requirement within 6 months of starting in a new role, you must apply for registration within 3 months of your start date on the register. To maintain your registration, you must hold or work towards the SSSC benchmark qualification for the role, complete the required Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) for the role and submit an annual declaration via MySSSC. The benchmark qualification for this role includes SVQ 3 or above.For more details about qualifications and timeframes, go to . If you do not currently hold a benchmark qualification, your registration will be granted subject to the condition that you achieve the required qualification within the timeframe defined by SSSC
  • Provide care and support which meets the Health and Social Care standards.
  • Must be able to work with other Council services and partner agencies to support the effective planning and delivery of care and support within our service.
  • You should be able to work flexibly and creatively within a dynamic and ambitious team.

As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration.

Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
