Job description

Relief Security Officer – GO! Southampton [ASEL Security]

Overall Purpose

Argenbright Security Europe Limited (ASEL) provides integrated security solutions through technology products and human security resources. Our approach bridges gaps with risk-based solutions, deployed via our unique ASEL Risk Modelling, specifically designed for urban centres. As part of the Bradford BID Patrol Team, you will be at the forefront of UK crime reduction and crime management, contributing to the most effective urban centre operation in the UK. Join an elite team delivering high-quality security services, highly trained and responsive, benefiting ASEL customers and local communities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide high visibility, reassuring presence, and a safe environment in Southampton City Centre, reacting appropriately to threats and risks.
  2. Visit BID businesses daily, engage with store and business colleagues, and maintain contact details on the BID Base platform.
  3. Operate professionally, offering excellent customer service to BID businesses, the public, local authorities, and the BID team.
  4. Review intelligence updates daily at the start of your shift to stay informed of potential threats.
  5. Target priority offenders to reduce crime and risk in Southampton City Centre.
  6. Communicate with ASEL CIC and adhere to BID visit schedules, reporting incidents and intelligence via ASEL Guarded on Duty and completing daily DILO reports.
  7. Gather evidence for police investigations, including MG11 statements and CCTV exhibits, supporting detained offenders and businesses.
  8. Respond promptly to calls via BID radio or mobile, acknowledging every communication.
  9. Assist visitors with wayfinding and support community safety efforts.
  10. Address sharps, waste, and debris following proper procedures.
  11. Attend and support business crime meetings, working with the Business Crime Manager.
  12. Collaborate with police, outreach teams, and support Days of Action.
  13. Support police prosecutions by attending court and providing evidence.
  14. Provide first aid support when necessary as a first responder.

Night-Time City Security Wardens

Objective: To prevent anti-social behaviour (ASB) and increase public confidence through high-visibility patrols in hotspot areas within the BID.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular patrols, ensuring visibility and reassurance to the public, businesses, and visitors.
  • Engage with the community and businesses, gather intelligence, and address concerns.
  • Interact with NTE businesses, remind them to switch on radios, and build positive community relationships.
  • Identify and address ASB, issuing warnings or coordinating with police as needed.
  • Support VAWG initiatives by monitoring vulnerable individuals, intervening, and reporting incidents.
  • Log patrol activities, incidents, and intelligence; report to the Operations Manager.
  • Attend partner briefings and collaborate with police, PCSOs, SCAS, and others.
  • Maintain professionalism and adhere to policies and procedures at all times.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

Essential

  • Door Supervisor or Close Protection License
  • IT literacy, comfortable with mobile devices and apps
  • Smart appearance and pride in presentation
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written

Desirable

  • Experience in UK policing (Police/PCSO/Council Warden)
  • Military experience
  • SIA CCTV License
  • Basic IT and customer service qualifications (L2)
  • Experience with conflict resolution in retail security
  • Experience working with UK Police
