Relief Porter

Agenda for Change Band 2 £25,694 - £27,900 plus £1750.47 High Secure Environmental Allowance per annum.

Hours - 37 per week

Contract Duration – Permanent

Post Details - The State Hospital provides maximum secure psychiatric care for patients from Scotland and Northern Ireland. Our strategy is to ensure equitable provision of high quality, clinically effective services to meet the mental health and social care needs of all patients. A vacancy has arisen for a Relief Porter. You will be part of a team of seven Porters tasked with the delivery of a high quality portering service within all wards and departments in the State Hospital.

Duties include making deliveries and uplifts within the hospital. This will involve driving hospital vehicles with the post holder having the responsibility of the upkeep of the vehicles used within the department. There will be a considerable amount of internal communication with staff from all areas of the hospital. Portering duties will involve heavy manual work.

Experience – Applicants should hold a full current clean driving licence. Previous knowledge of moving and handling techniques would be an advantage, as would the ability to work with minimal supervision. Candidates should be conscientious, have good communications skill and be able to use own initiative.
