Overview

Job Description

Relief Pharmacist – Outpatient Department (OPD). Location: Swindon General Hospital. Contract: Permanent, full-time (40 hours/week). You will provide excellent customer and patient care, listening and offering expert advice and reassurance. This role offers a clinical setting with occasional work in community pharmacy.

We value a team approach and patient-facing care within a clinical setting, including collaboration with cancer screening and oncology services.

Responsibilities
  • Delivering the pharmacy strategy through providing expert care and advice
  • Accountable for legal and ethical decisions in the pharmacy
  • Building the pharmacy capability of store teams
  • Conducting continual review through audit, observations and risk assessment to ensure customer and patient safety is paramount
  • Delivering a range of professional pharmacy services
  • Dispensing outpatient prescriptions that can only be fulfilled in hospital settings
  • Supporting hospital service improvement initiatives
  • Providing patient counselling and clinical advice
  • Working within a MDT (multidisciplinary team) across secondary care
What you’ll need to have
  • Be registered with relevant pharmacy regulator (GPhC, PSNI, PSI)
  • Demonstrate high levels of professional expertise and be widely respected by stakeholders, peers, patients, customers and external local professionals
  • Have a passion for community pharmacy and providing the best care for our customers
  • Keen to develop leadership skills and contribute to team strategy
  • Willing to learn and adapt in a dynamic hospital environment
  • Be collaborative with a team-centered approach
  • Have excellent knowledge of pharmacy operations and provisions of national and local services
  • Be a great communicator; able to put people at ease and effectively meet the varied needs of our customers and patients
  • Passionate about patient-facing care and clinical excellence
