Job summary

Mitie is seeking a Security Officer to cover DWP sites across Basildon and surrounding towns such as Southend, Grays, Rayleigh, Canvey Island and Chelmsford. A DS licence and a full UK driving licence are required, with prior security experience.

You will patrol, control access, respond to incidents, liaise with police, and provide high levels of customer service while adhering to Mitie and DWP security policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the premises regularly to identify potential security threats and ensure safety.
• Monitor and control access to the building, verifying identity and visitor credentials.

• Provide high levels of customer service and assist staff and visitors with security-related matters.
• Complete incident reports and maintain accurate security notebooks for incident review.

Job Overview

• Ensure a safe and secure environment for the DWP staff, visitors, and property.
• Patrol the premises regularly to identify potential security threats.
• Monitor and control access to the building, ensuring proper identification and verification.
• Respond effectively to emergencies or suspicious situations.
• Liaise with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
• Provide a high level of customer service and assist staff and visitors in any security-related matter.
• Conduct routine security checks and submit incident reports as appropriate.
• Adhere to Mitie and DWP security policies, procedures, and regulations

Security and Health & Safety

• Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.
• Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.
• Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears to become threatening.
• To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.
• Complete an accurate, detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process.
• Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
• To call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents.
