Job summary

An established industry player is seeking a Relief Cook to provide essential meal services across Mainland Orkney and Outer Isles Schools. This role involves preparing, cooking, and serving food, as well as supervising staff and ensuring compliance with food safety standards. Relief Cook - Mainland Orkney and Outer Isles Schools

Hours are offered on an as and when required basis

£14.94 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)

Applications are invited from enthusiastic individuals who can help to provide the meals service on a relief basis to cover for holiday and sickness absence.

Duties include:

  1. Preparation, cooking and service of food
  2. Supervision of staff
  3. Menu planning
  4. Ordering of provisions
  5. Ensuring all aspects of service provision comply with food safety
  6. Completion of associated records
  7. Cash handling
  8. Liaising with school staff, parents and pupils

Minimum Requirements:

You must hold an Intermediate Food Hygiene Qualification or equivalent and a food preparation qualification - NVQ level 2, C+G 706/1 + 706/2.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
