About therole

As a Cook at MHA you will be responsiblefor managing the efficiency, hygiene and safety in the cateringarea, organising and supervising other staff working in thekitchen whilst maintaining the correct HACCP principals in allcatering areas and ensuring all legislative standards are met.Prepare, cook and serve meals for residents on a daily basis,respecting residents rights to privacy, dignity and choice.Planning menus to provide nutritionally balanced and attractivemeals and when necessary, providing for any special diets. Anexperienced caterer is required, with good planning, budget andstock control abilities. Taking stock of ingredients and creatingnew recipes to keep the menu fresh!

Aboutyou

  • You will hold excellent communicationand people skills and have the ability to work under pressurewhilst using your creativity in preparing meals.
  • Prepare, cook and serve meals forresidents, visitors and staff on a daily basis. This may alsoinclude catering for adhoc events. This means being able tofollow recipes as well as knowing the basic techniques tohandle almost any food type.
  • Being able to think about everything atonce, and to understand and know what each section of thekitchen is working on is a skill in itself!
  • You will be working in the home of theindividuals you are cooking for, allowing you to get to knowtheir likes and dislikes.
  • You must have the ability to cook tobudgets
  • Be able to maintain a positive workingenvironment and motivate the kitchen team to deliver excellentresults
