Job description

Here in North Yorkshire, we have several services that support and empower children. We are looking to expand our team of Children's Residential and Edge of Care workers in the Harrogate area.

Join us as we ensure that every child or young person, we work with gets the right support at the right time to meet their needs.

About the role

Within the No Wrong Door Service, we are looking for resilient, flexible, and motivated individuals who will work with older children and young people (approx.12 – 18 and young adults up to 25). As part of your role, you will work directly providing care and support to children and young people which can include supporting children to access sport and leisure activities, engaging in education or visiting family and friends as well as fulfilling professional social care responsibilities including recording/report writing, safeguarding responsibilities, participating in statutory meetings and following Children’s Home regulations.

These roles are very rewarding, yet at times it may be challenging due to the adverse childhood experiences and early childhood trauma the children and young people we support have experienced. To fully support you with this you will participate in a comprehensive programme of induction and training which ensures new recruits feel able to grow and develop into the role in a safe and supportive way. This makes sure staff are ready to take on their roles in caring for children and young people.

About you

We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic, and highly skilled child focussed professionals with a positive approach and an understanding of safeguarding practice in a registered childcare setting.

You should be an effective communicator who can adapt the way you communicate to engage young people who may not use words to speak.

There is a variety of shifts around a 24-hour Monday to Sunday, this can include some sleep-in duties, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. With this being a relief contract, you will be able to choose shifts that fit in around your other commitments.

If you are passionate about supporting and improving the life, chances, and outcomes for some of North Yorkshire’s most vulnerable children and young people this is the role for you.

We welcome any interested applicants to contact Steve Olden, Team Manager – No Wrong Door West via email atsteve.olden@northyorks.gov.uk
