Position: Catering Assistants
Duration: Temporary hours from 9 July – 20 July 2025
Shift patterns: Various shifts from Monday - Sunday, 6am – 11am, 12pm – 10pm, 6pm – 10pm. Minimum of 4 shifts required.
Pay: £14.44 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)
Additional pay: A shift allowance will be paid for unsocial hours worked where appropriate.
Applications are invited from motivated individuals to undertake duties as kitchen assistants, assisting with breakfast and evening meal service during the Orkney Island Games 2025.
Responsibilities include assisting cooks with providing a basic breakfast service and 2-course evening meals at locations including KGS, PhoR, and Stromness Academy.
No previous experience is required as on-the-job training will be provided. A willingness to work in a fast-paced catering environment is essential.
Key duties include supervised serving of meals, basic food preparation and service, stock replenishment, setting up and clearing dining areas, washing up, and general cleaning within kitchen and dining areas.
This role will be fully supervised, with training and PPE provided. Candidates must provide their own sensible footwear and dress appropriately for shifts.
Travel between work locations within Orkney should be efficient and effective to meet operational needs.
