Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a relief catering assistant to cover four sites across the Birmingham area. Shifts vary to meet business needs. You will help with food preparation, keep the kitchen clean, assist with deliveries and food storage, and serve items to customers according to the Chefs' menu.

The ideal candidate will have basic catering knowledge, knife skills, and good time management. DBS/checks may be required; training can be provided. This role is on site with flexible shift patterns.

Qualifications

• Commercial kitchen experience is valued but not essential.
• Basic catering certificate such as Food Handling is desirable but training can be provided.
• Must have basic knife skills, food preparation, and time management.
• Ability to work under pressure and strong organisational skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods due to the physical nature of the job.

Responsibilities

• Help with food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, trimming, and making sandwiches and salads.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and equipment, including cleaning utensils and catering stations.
• Assist with receiving and unpacking deliveries and organising food and supply storage areas.
• Serve food items to customers in accordance with the menu prepared by the Chefs.
• Top up the vending services daily.
