Job summary

Bright Star Talent Limited is recruiting a School Caretaker for a Birmingham (B19) primary school. The role focuses on daily upkeep, security, and ensuring a safe, well-kept environment for pupils and staff.

The post runs 6:00am–2:00pm, Monday to Friday, with experience in school caretaking preferred. DBS Update Service registration is required, and the successful candidate will work closely with school staff to maintain high standards of safety and presentation.

Qualifications

• Previous caretaking, maintenance or site experience.
• Experience working within a school preferred.
• Fully DBS checked (Update Service).
• Reliable, organised and proactive approach to work.
• Good understanding of health and safety.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Good communication with school staff.
• Professional and responsible in a school environment.

Responsibilities

• Open and secure the school site each day.
• Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs.
• Ensure buildings and grounds are clean, safe and well maintained.
• Complete regular site, health and safety checks.
• Identify and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Set up rooms, furniture and equipment as required.
• Monitor the security of the school premises.
• Liaise with contractors and visitors when needed.
