Job Description:

We are seeking a Reliability Technician (Electrical Bias) to join our dedicated Reliability-Centered Maintenance team in Ketton. This role focuses on improving plant performance by leveraging electrical reliability-based techniques and optimising maintenance processes. As part of a professional and dynamic team, you will play a pivotal role in driving efficiency, enhancing equipment reliability, and supporting operational excellence.

This position will provide direction and control of all aspects associated with reliability of the operational plant. The role holder will play an active part in the development and implementation of modern maintenance techniques associated with, predictive-condition-based, preventive and corrective maintenance requirements to support the sites reliability KPIs. The role is in line with business requirements to achieve Monitor and improve equipment functionality with regard to operation and plant efficiency including the site infrastructure with a focus on plant performance, energy reduction and sustainability in order to maintain the maximum level of availability and reliability of the plant at the lowest cost effective level.

Key Responsibilities:

Electrical Reliability:

  • Apply electrical reliability techniques such as thermography, motor current analysis, and insulation resistance testing to improve equipment performance.
  • Develop and maintain electrical preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Conduct failure analysis and recommend solutions for electrical equipment and systems.
  • Assist in developing annual maintenance budgets for OPEX and CAPEX requirements.
  • Conduct technical evaluations for maintenance services, strategic spare parts, and investment projects.

Training:

  • Identify, plan, and evaluate training needs to enhance modern electrical maintenance techniques.
  • Provide training on new electrical equipment, procedures, and reliability systems.

Technical Support:

  • Support the maintenance team in delivering high-quality, electrical-focused maintenance, reducing failures.
  • Analyse data from condition-based maintenance systems and recommend corrective actions for electrical systems.
  • Work closely with engineering and operational teams across departments to achieve shared goals.
  • Contribute to predictive maintenance analyses alongside engineers, supervisors, and managers.

Maintenance Systems:

  • Implement and maintain a Reliability-Centred Maintenance system with a focus on electrical equipment.
  • Enhance preventive maintenance plans in SAP-PM.
  • Monitor adherence to condition-based, first-line, and lubrication maintenance schedules.

Management and Supervision:

  • Supervise contractors providing electrical reliability services.
  • Support and oversee the lubrication technician (future role) where electrical components are involved.

Process & System Improvement:

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve reliability, availability, and maintainability of electrical equipment.
  • Deliver projects that enhance plant efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and align with sustainability goals.

Team Contribution:

  • Be a vital member of the Reliability-Centred Maintenance team, collaborating to identify and implement best practices that drive operational excellence.
  • Proactively contribute to the continuous improvement of plant performance by analysing and addressing root causes of electrical reliability issues.

Compliance and Information Management:

  • Conduct design reviews to improve MTBF and maintainability of electrical systems.
  • Optimise PPM plans for maintenance teams and process operatives.
  • Lead root cause failure analysis for electrical equipment and manage technical documentation.

What We're Looking For:

Qualifications:

  • Engineering qualifications in an electrical discipline.
  • City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 equivalent is essential.
  • HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent is preferred.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in an engineering role within a continuous process industry, with a strong focus on electrical systems.
  • Supervisory or managerial experience is essential.

Skills:

  • Expertise in electrical reliability techniques, including thermography, motor condition monitoring, and insulation testing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, and CCM software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to electrical systems.
  • Commitment to safety, teamwork, and organisational values.
  • Ability to adapt to change and continuously develop professional knowledge.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills.
