The Opportunity

We seek a proactive, technically skilled Reliability Engineer to join our Network Infrastructure Asset Management team, focusing on enhancing the performance, reliability, and lifecycle of our grid-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

This role suits an engineer with hands-on and analytical experience with BESS assets, passionate about data-driven reliability, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement. You will collaborate with the Head of Operations, OEMs, and service providers to analyze asset performance, identify issues, and implement corrective actions.

The role involves remote work, data analysis, and occasional site visits for failure investigations and performance monitoring. Technical depth, problem-solving skills, and a focus on high availability are essential.

Applicants with asset management qualifications, reliability engineering experience, and contract management knowledge are encouraged to apply.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Lead reliability improvement initiatives for Zenobe’s BESS assets.
  • Monitor performance and fault trends, applying root cause analysis.
  • Develop reliability reports, KPIs, and health metrics.
  • Support asset management strategies, including failure mode analysis and lifecycle planning.
  • Investigate critical asset failures, prepare incident reports, and incorporate lessons learned.
  • Coordinate with OEMs and service providers on warranty claims and corrective actions.
  • Assist in technical assessments for asset interventions and upgrades.
  • Work with SHEQ and operational teams to incorporate findings into safety systems.
  • Contribute to digital tools and analytics development for proactive monitoring.
  • Support contract reviews and performance assessments.

Candidate Profile

We welcome applicants with transferable skills, emphasizing collaboration, flexibility, and a commitment to zero carbon goals. Candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with BESS assets.
  • Knowledge of reliability methodologies (RCA, FMEA).
  • Understanding of BESS architectures, inverter tech, SCADA, high-voltage systems.
  • Ability to analyze large data sets for insights.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and reliability tools like Power BI, Excel, CMMS.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with multiple project management capabilities.
  • Asset Management qualifications or commitment (advantage).
  • Experience with contract and warranty management (desirable).
  • UK driving license.
