Through Business Banking (BB), our global network offers comprehensive support and services to SMEs. From expanding overseas to managing cash and trade flows, our Relationship Managers and Product Specialists provide end-to-end solutions to help small businesses reach their potential.

We are seeking a customer-focused and commercially minded individual to join this team as a Relationship Manager.

You will provide dedicated customer service to a portfolio of clients, with accountability for sales, service, risk, and operational delivery. This role involves working with both external clients and internal stakeholders, including Sales, Product Development, Risk, and Compliance teams.


Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Meeting face-to-face with SME clients, managing a portfolio of up to 70 clients.
  2. Managing a portfolio income of approximately £1.5–£2 million and SME clients with a turnover of £2–£15 million.
  3. Driving revenue growth by understanding customer needs and adopting a needs-based approach to increase new business.
  4. Growing the business sustainably by identifying expansion opportunities and broadening client relationships leveraging HSBC's extensive network.
  5. Building a strong understanding of clients' businesses and industries to provide insights, enrich conversations, and deliver fair outcomes.
  6. Conducting proactive credit risk assessments and customer due diligence reviews to ensure comprehensive understanding of clients.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  1. Experience in Business/Corporate Banking or Financial Services.
  2. Experience in Commercial Banking is advantageous.
  3. Proven ability to identify and meet customer needs.
  4. Experience in credit and lending is advantageous.
  5. A passion for delivering excellent customer service and seeking innovative improvements.
  6. Ability to build effective networks across business areas and develop trusting relationships.
  7. Understanding of risk management and compliance with regulatory processes.

This is a hybrid role based in Castle Donington, covering the East Midlands region.
