Job summary

HSBC Holdings plc in Manchester is launching a Degree Apprenticeship in Relationship Management within Commercial Banking. From day one, you’ll work with Relationship Managers to understand client needs and support activities across presentations, reports, and risk assessments.

Qualifications

• Have obtained 5, or more, GCSEs at a minimum of grade 4/C
• Have obtained, or expected to obtain, a minimum of BCC across your top 3 A-levels, or equivalent
• Have been a resident in the UK for the last 3 consecutive years before the start of the Apprenticeship, and have a continued Right to Work in the UK for the full duration of the programme

Responsibilities

• Assist Relationship Managers and specialist teams to support Commercial Banking clients from day one.
• Help prepare client presentations, reports and credit papers.
• Support strategic reviews and pitches and carry out financial analysis and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with Legal, Credit and Risk colleagues to understand how to deliver tailored solutions.

What you'll do

From day one, you’ll work with Relationship Managers and specialist teams to support Commercial Banking clients. You’ll help build a clear picture of each client’s business, goals and challenges, then see how HSBC brings the right people together to respond. You could help prepare client presentations, reports and credit papers, support strategic reviews and pitches, and carry out financial analysis and risk assessments on portfolios and transactions. You’ll also work with colleagues across Legal, Credit and Risk to understand how we deliver tailored solutions responsibly. Across your placements, you’ll get early exposure to client-facing work and see how strong relationships are built, grown and protected over time.

What you'll learn

You’ll build a strong foundation in commercial banking through structured training, four placements and a degree apprenticeship that blends study with real experience. Early on, you’ll learn how HSBC supports business clients, how key banking products work, and how regulation shapes the way we serve customers. As you progress, you’ll deepen your understanding of client needs, risk, credit, and relationship-led banking. You’ll also work towards a BSc (Hons) in Applied Retail and Commercial Banking with the University of Exeter. By the end of the programme, you’ll have developed practical banking knowledge, stronger commercial judgement, and the confidence to grow into a client-facing role.

You’ll work in HSBC’s Commercial Banking business, alongside Relationship Managers and specialist teams who support clients of different sizes and sectors. Eligibility Criteria

This is a Degree Apprenticeship, so you’ll need to meet the programme’s apprenticeship and academic entry requirements where applicable. To be eligible, you must:
