Join us as a Relationship Director within the UK Corporate team.

In the UK Mid Corporate Coverage business area of Corporate Banking, we seek to understand our clients’ objectives, opportunities, and challenges, and work with them to achieve their business ambitions. We offer expert industry insight across sectors such as manufacturing, technology, restaurants, and law firms, working with product specialists to deliver suitable financial solutions.

As a Relationship Director, you will manage, develop, and grow a portfolio of approximately 40 customers, each with a turnover between £6.5m and £50m or debt requirements exceeding £1m, through excellent customer service and relationship deepening. You will proactively maximize opportunities within your local market to attract and acquire new customers. Business development is key, with targets to secure at least 2 new-to-bank customers annually or generate a minimum of £150k in new client income from at least 2 new relationships.

Purpose of the role:

To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with corporate clients, acting as a bridge between the bank's offerings and clients' needs to ensure mutual benefit and long-term success.

Accountabilities:

  • Manage client relationships to understand financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance, analyzing data from various sources to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Research industry trends, regulatory landscape, and competition to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Design tailored solutions addressing clients’ specific needs, incorporating bank products and services.
  • Communicate value propositions, justify recommendations, and negotiate terms beneficial for both parties.
  • Guide clients in financial decisions, risk and wealth management, and market trend updates to foster positive relationships.
  • Assess and mitigate financial, legal, operational risks, and document interactions for transparency and audit purposes.
  • Monitor client satisfaction, revenue, and other metrics to evaluate relationship management effectiveness.
  • Conduct market research to identify opportunities, trends, and customer needs, developing strategies for growth.
