Job Description:

The Role

The Reinsurance Technician (Longevity) will play a pivotal role in our Reinsurance Operations team. The individual will take ownership for the administration and accounting for the Branch’s growing longevity portfolio, as well as leading the oversight and governance activities for our third-party annuity outsourcing relationship. They will be the main operational contact for our longevity clients and suppliers. The role provides an excellent opportunity to develop experience of operations, performance analysis, and stakeholder management, alongside financial reporting responsibilities.

They will partner with the Data management team to deliver a focus on value creation, embedding financial processes, as well as leading on automation and efficiency initiatives, whilst providing insights on the performance of our longevity business.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the onboarding of longevity treaties into the technical accounting and data processes to ensure accounts are submitted in accordance with contractual terms, and in line with internal business requirements
  • Managing all aspects of the outsourced annuity administration services, including:
    Ensuring that the third-party provider delivers service in line with agreed SLAsRun the relationships with the annuity clients and outsourcing providerValidation and reconciliation of the monthly payrollsProduction of MI for Hannover Re management and clientsCo-ordinate the oversight and governance activities requested by our clientsLead the annual due diligence and governance activities on the outsourcing providerDrive continuous improvement of processes and controls to ensure that the annuity administration service continues to meet all internal, client and regulatory requirementsEnsure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., Consumer Duty) by staying current with evolving regulations and collaborating closely with the Head of Compliance.
  • Ensure that all technical bookings for single premium annuities and longevity treaties are accurate and timely
  • Collaborate with the Treaty Accountant and the Data Management team to deliver high quality analytics and business performance reporting
  • Administer policy and claim data provided by the clients and outsourcer to ensure it meets Hannover Re business requirements, including data quality, SLAs, and treaty terms and conditions
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues across the Hannover Re Group to deliver business process and longevity system enhancements
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with clients to ensure the delivery of high-quality client account data that meets business requirements
  • Provide expert accounting and administration support to the Longevity Business Development team
  • Act as subject matter expert for Branch longevity accounting and reinsurance operations
  • Maintain quality and consistency of process standards and operational controls
  • Maintain process and control documentation relating to the annuity and longevity treaties of the Branch
  • Lead and participate in both Group and local projects in respect of longevity accounting and business performance reporting

About You:

Qualifications Required

Experience

  • Insurance operations experience would be an advantage
  • Financial process and control design
  • Reinsurance experience, a distinct advantage
  • Management of relationships with external parties

Skills

  • SAP financial accounting system experience an advantage
