Reinsurance Legal Counsel - 2-5 years PQE - London

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a mid-level lawyer to develop their career within a leading reinsurance brokerage. Guy Carpenter is seeking a Reinsurance Legal Counsel to work closely with the business and the Legal & Compliance team on contentious, non-contentious, strategic, project, and commercial matters. This role is based in London and involves advising on a wide range of issues across the UK, CE, and IMEA regions. You should be a proactive self-starter capable of quickly understanding organizational risks, issues, and opportunities.

Responsibilities include:

1. Providing commercial legal advice and pragmatic solutions, balancing organizational objectives with risk appetite.
2. Supporting legal matters including contract negotiations, regulatory compliance, data protection, employment law, corporate projects, and dispute resolution.
3. Managing a caseload of contentious matters related to the business.
4. Supporting innovation and managing risks associated with new products and services.
5. Identifying issues beyond specific projects and managing them to completion.
6. Developing a long-term career in-house with enthusiasm.

Minimum requirements:

1. UK qualified lawyer with 2-5 years PQE, experience in private practice or in-house at a (re)insurance company or brokerage.
2. Experience in both contentious and non-contentious (re)insurance matters.
3. Excellent communication, drafting, and negotiation skills, with adaptability to dynamic work environments.
4. Proactive, practical, team-oriented, and experienced in fast-paced settings managing multiple deadlines.

Preferred qualifications:

1. Knowledge of (re)insurance-specific laws and regulations.
2. Experience in professional services, insurance, or financial sectors.
