Job summary

Vitality is seeking a Junior Data Analyst to join the Reinsurance Accounts team. You will help deliver accurate data, support monthly reporting, and develop technical and analytical skills within reinsurance operations.

You will work with large datasets, validate data quality, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve reporting processes. Proficiency in Excel and SQL/Python/R is expected, with practical problem solving and clear communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Practical Excel capability, including PivotTables, lookups and data analysis functions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, analyse and validate reinsurance data to maintain accuracy, consistency and reliability across operational processes.
• Deliver monthly reinsurance reporting within agreed timescales and support the production of clear, accurate analysis for senior stakeholders.
• Work with large and complex datasets containing more than one million rows and over 100 columns.
• Identify data quality issues, investigate their causes and support the resolution of process exceptions.
• Perform data validation, reconciliation and quality assurance checks to protect the integrity of reporting outputs.
• Maintain clear documentation and audit trails across data processes, controls and reporting activities.
• Use Excel and analytical tools such as SQL, Python or R to query, manipulate and analyse data.
• Work with internal teams to support effective data handling and strengthen the quality of reporting processes.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual activity, streamline workflows and improve existing data processes.
• Build knowledge of reinsurance data, systems and reporting while contributing to small projects and wider team initiatives.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
• Practical Excel capability, including PivotTables, lookups and data analysis functions
• Working knowledge of SQL, Python and/or R for data analysis, automation and data manipulation
• Experience working with large datasets and completing data validation, reconciliation and quality assurance activities
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
