About Ignite Hubs
Ignite Hubs is an education charity for children and young people aged 7 to 18 years old. Our mission is to ignite the potential of young minds by widening their horizons and providing them with the skills, connections and experiences to access and pursue meaningful careers and lead fulfilling lives.
We aim to provide the best learning environment for children and young people from all backgrounds and abilities. We place a special emphasis on engaging underrepresented groups, including girls, ethnic minorities, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
We currently teach coding, STEM and creative writing teaching over 200 students each week and have positively impacted more than 1,000 children and young people since we started. Our educational offerings include five weekly virtual classes and four weekly in-person classes during term time at various libraries throughout Southwark, SE London.
Our long-term ambition is to offer nationwide classes, workshops and events to children and young people on a wide variety of subjects under our five educational Hubs: Code, STEM, Innovation & Enterprise, Creativity and Health & Wellbeing.
Role & Responsibilities
We are seeking passionate and creative Maths Instructors to join our Maths team and help us develop and deliver a maths programme that inspires children and young people to feel more confident about maths, particularly those who struggle, experience anxiety, or feel excluded from maths. The programme (live classes and self-learning via our Online Learning Platform) will help make maths more accessible, engaging and connected to real-world applications.
We launched our virtual Maths classes in April 2025 and are looking to launch onsite classes at Camberwell Library on Thursdays in September 2025. Our onsite classes run from 6:15pm to 7:15pm during term-time only. Our terms are 8 weeks long, with a break of at least two weeks in the middle, longer for Easter and Summer holidays. You are required to arrive 15 minutes before the class starts to prepare and stay for an additional 15 minutes to help with pack-up.
In the room, students at other tables will be learning coding with other instructors. This collaborative environment offers a great opportunity to broaden your skill set and connect with instructors from different backgrounds.
There are additional hours available for contributing to curriculum development, creating educational resources and content creation for our Online Learning Platform, which we are currently designing and building.
