Job description

A Vacancy at Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust.

Are you interested in a career as a health professional?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Rehabilitation Assistant team. We are seeking enthusiastic, caring, and compassionate applicants to expand the existing team. Working as a Rehabilitation Assistant, you will work under the guidance of the inter-disciplinary team (IDT) to contribute to the delivery of services based within Tickhill Road Hospital (TRH). Applications are welcomed from individuals who are interested in developing skills in rehabilitation while providing a high-quality, flexible patient-centered service.

If you don't already have a Level 2 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, RDaSH are offering this post alongside the opportunity for you to complete a Level 2 apprenticeship qualification relevant to your role.

As an apprentice within RDaSH, you will be given the opportunity to gain experience, learn work-related skills, and obtain all the tools needed to thrive. An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organization. Around 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying. This leads to a nationally recognized qualification.

Whether you already work for us or are joining the Trust and NHS for the first time, apprenticeships can help you to develop the skills, knowledge, and know-how in order to embark on a successful and fulfilling career within the health service.

Responsibilities:
  1. Carry out agreed therapeutic care plan/goals with patients under the direction and supervision of the multi-professional team.
  2. Contribute to the promotion and maintenance of physical, psychological, and social well-being of patients in Activities of Daily Living, e.g.:
  • Washing and dressing practice
  • Continence management
  • Hydration & nutrition needs
  • Mobility
  • Meal and drink preparation
  • Practicing domestic activities e.g. laundry and shopping
  • Speech and language exercise programmes
  • Health promotion e.g. healthy eating
  • Social activities
  • Contribute to the assessment, implementation, and delivery of individualized evidence-based care and provide feedback on current patient status to appropriate members of the multi-professional team throughout the span of duty (individualized care plan/goals devised by appropriate therapist/nurse).
  • Assist in the promotion and maintenance of individual patient service activities of daily living, e.g., assisting with personal hygiene needs, mobility, and nutrition needs.
  • Awareness of and adherence to all Trust policies.
  • Promote and uphold privacy, dignity & respect, rights, and well-being of patients and their carers at all times with a particular emphasis on the facilitation of a holistic quality of life for the patient which appreciates the wider context outside of the care setting and promotes an environment where this can be facilitated.
  • Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH) employ around 3700 talented colleagues who are very much appreciated, valued, and respected.

We have a wide portfolio which includes mental health, physical health, learning disability, and drug and alcohol services.

We are passionate about enhancing the quality of our service and we work hard to attract and select the right colleagues for our organization. Our goal is to employ those who share our passion for providing first-class care while remaining committed to our vision and values.
