Job summary

NHS National Services Scotland invites applications for Health Care Support Workers to join the LD inpatient team at New Craigs Hospital in Inverness, a 98-bed mental health facility serving the Highlands. In Learning Disability Assessment and Treatment Unit, a 6-bed unit, you will work as part of a motivated, person-centred team providing patient-focused care and a positive admission experience.

The post offers mandatory training and opportunities, with prior care setting experience desirable;

Job description

An opportunity has arisen for Health Care Support Workers to join our LD inpatient team in New Craigs Hospital. We are a 98 bedded mental health hospital providing inpatient mental health care to people within the Highlands; located in the City of Inverness..

Learning Disability Assessment and Treatment Unit is a 6 bedded assessment and treatment unit for people with learning disabilities who are experiencing an acute episode of mental ill-health. You would be working as part of a highly motivated and encouraging team, who adopt a person centred approach to care, always aiming for a positive patient experience of admission

The successful candidates will be motivated, demonstrate a commitment towards the continued development of patient focused care whilst fostering a therapeutic ward environment. The successful candidates will be provided with all necessary statutory and mandatory training required for this role. NHS Highland will also support any Band 3 HCSW’s who apply for and are accepted onto an Open University Nursing Degree course.

Previous experience in a care setting is desirable as this is a busy and physically demanding post. We require someone who is able to cope with these demands, who can work well within a team and has a calm and friendly nature.
