We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Regulatory Project Lead Global Risk Analytics (GRA).

The environment in which HSBC operates is subject to increasing regulatory change - with major changes to the regulation governing model development and model usage. The PRA has recently published new Model Governance standards (SS 1/23) and HSBC has aligned its revised Global Model Risk Policy to these new standards. The Wholesale Credit Risk Analytics (WCRA) function now needs to enhance its legacy models to ensure compliance with the new policy.

As Regulatory Project Lead (GRA), you will support the Professional Practices team to plan and execute SS1/23 remediation work for wholesale credit risk analytics models. You will manage a significant number of internal stakeholders and will be able to demonstrate program progress. You will also support senior management in understanding the impact of regulatory proposals on the business. This will require collaboration with different modelling teams globally to ensure consistent approach to achieve compliance with objectives defined by the program

In this role, you will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Collaborate with key functions (e.g. Lines of Business, Regional GRA teams, Internal Model Review, Internal Audit, Wholesale Credit Risk, Data Architects, IT) within the model lifecycle to document current state processes and lead the remediation process for GRA models.
  • Provide impact assessment for new requests and change requests on design, scope, time, budget of different aspects of program implementation; as well as to mobilise and engage with relevant stakeholders and ensuring project traction.
  • Plan and lead the processes of implementing risk controls for model risk as 1LOD, following the risk taxonomy of the bank and delivering the agreed outcomes.
  • Lead activities to build and maintain the governance to manage model risk across the WCRA model landscape for all model types (IRB, IFRS9, Stress Test, Climate, etc.), ensuring processes are properly documented and well understood and alignment of regions with the global governance.
  • Produce new documentation or changes in the existing ones required as part of the implementation work.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Good understanding of the regulatory environment in which the bank operates, SS1/23
  • Strong understanding of model risk, model governance and controls
  • Ability to autonomously drive delivery of projects within the agreed timescale, in liaison with all relevant stakeholders (team colleagues, model owners, credit, business, IT, senior management and regulators)
  • Relevant experience in planning and deploying regulatory initiatives including changes in systems, policies, governance, controls.
  • Understanding of model life cycle, ideally Wholesale Credit Risk models, governance and controls.
  • Significant/relevant working experience in a bank, rating agency, consultancy or advisory firm
  • Organised, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prepare clear and effective presentations, documents, trainings and workshops
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels across the Group.

The base location for this role is London - Hybrid working
