Job Description:

Regulatory Project Lead Global Risk Analytics (GRA) - Risk and Compliance

Some careers open more doors than others.

If you’re looking for a career that will unlock new opportunities, join HSBC and experience the possibilities. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

Our Risk and Compliance function plays a critical role in supporting, challenging, and advising across all areas of the business through establishing policy, monitoring profiles, and identifying and managing forward-looking risk and compliance. We focus on creating an environment that encourages our people to speak up and do the right thing, as well as protecting our customers, the organization, and the integrity of the financial markets we operate in. We are industry leaders and continuously evolve to meet strategic changes.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package, including private healthcare, enhanced maternity and adoption pay, support for returning to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

We are seeking an experienced individual to join our team as a Regulatory Project Lead (GRA).

The environment HSBC operates in is subject to increasing regulatory change, including new standards such as SS 1/23 for model governance. HSBC has aligned its Global Model Risk Policy to these standards, and the Wholesale Credit Risk Analytics (WCRA) function needs to enhance its legacy models for compliance.

As Regulatory Project Lead (GRA), you will support the Professional Practices team to plan and execute SS1/23 remediation work for wholesale credit risk analytics models. You will manage numerous internal stakeholders and demonstrate program progress. You will also support senior management in understanding regulatory impacts on the business, collaborating with global modeling teams to ensure consistent compliance.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating with key functions across the model lifecycle to document current processes and lead remediation efforts.
  • Assessing impacts of new requests and changes on project scope, timeline, and budget; engaging stakeholders to ensure project traction.
  • Implementing risk controls for model risk as part of the first line of defense, following the bank’s risk taxonomy.
  • Building and maintaining governance for model risk across the WCRA model landscape, ensuring proper documentation and regional alignment.
  • Producing documentation and updates as required for implementation.

To succeed, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Strong understanding of the regulatory environment, particularly SS1/23.
  • Deep knowledge of model risk, governance, and controls.
  • Ability to independently deliver projects on time, coordinating with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Experience in planning and deploying regulatory initiatives, including policy and system changes.
  • Understanding of the model lifecycle, especially Wholesale Credit Risk models.
  • Relevant experience in banking, rating agencies, consultancy, or advisory firms.
  • Organized, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills for presentations, documentation, and workshops.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication at all levels.

The role is based in London with hybrid working arrangements.

Joining HSBC offers opportunities for growth and development.

We value diversity and inclusion and are committed to accessible recruitment processes. We are a Disability Confident Leader and will offer interviews to candidates with disabilities or neurodivergence who meet minimum criteria. If adjustments are needed, please contact our Recruitment Helpdesk.
