Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity at Thames Water where you will be part of a team responding to the Environment Agency (EA) across various communication mediums. This high-profile role involves working with our legal team at Eversheds Sutherland and the Environment Agency, providing exposure across the business at all levels and contributing to the company's wider environmental function.

What you’ll be doing as a Regulatory Information Specialist

You will critically review the Team’s Advisors' draft correspondence to EA related to criminal investigations into TWUL pollution and non-compliance incidents. You will support and coach the Advisors, leading and acting as the Team’s Manager delegate.

  1. Work closely with the Team’s Manager to address continuous improvement and development needs.
  2. Assist with managing responses to the regulator, ensuring accuracy and demonstrating our commitment as environmental guardians through critical review of draft responses.
  3. Ensure the author understands the circumstances of risks and pollution incidents, identifies and evidences mitigation actions, and interprets scientific data regarding environmental impact.
  4. Support Advisors in chairing internal meetings, finalising responses, preparing data, and working with stakeholders.
Location and Working Pattern

Base location: Hybrid - an average of two days a week at Clearwater Court, Vastern Rd, Reading.

Working hours: Flexible options available, to be discussed at interview.

Note: Interviews scheduled for the week commencing 8th September.

Role Requirements
  • Environmental Science, Legal, or Investigative degree or equivalent.
  • Understanding of Environmental Legislation, the Environment Agency’s CICS, 16_02, and CCS.
  • Project management skills, ability to work independently and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for internal and external stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in report writing, data interpretation, and verbal communication.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
  • Experience in coaching, motivating, and leading colleagues.
  • Experience with Environmental and Water Industry Legislation.
  • Ability to travel within Thames Water area for training and team building.
  • Legal privilege experience and audit/assurance experience are desirable.
