Job description

This is an exciting new role at Thames Water where you will have the opportunity to contribute to Thames Water’s mitigation of enforcement risk as a result of water discharge non-compliance against an environmental permit and/or pollution incident.

You will be part of a team responding to the Environment Agency (EA) across a variety of communication mediums. This high-profile role will involve working with our legal team at Eversheds Sutherland and the Environment Agency. As a result, you will gain exposure across the business at all levels and have the opportunity to contribute towards the company's wider environmental function.

What you’ll be doing as a Regulatory Information & Enforcement Analyst

The main focus of this role will be to conduct extensive email and document searches across company systems as a result of a request for information from the EA. Key responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with multiple internal stakeholders and Eversheds to identify relevance and non-relevance of search findings.
  • Working with the team’s Enforcement Advisors to prepare relevant documents for submission to the EA within the regulatory deadline.
  • Contribute to the preparation of mitigation and defence evidence through interrogation of company systems and records. This information is used in communication with Eversheds, senior management, and our regulators.
  • Routinely chair and facilitate meetings with information providers, ensuring you are well prepared, organised, and all attendees understand the purpose of the meeting in advance.
Base location:

Hybrid - An average of two days a week at Clearwater Court Vastern Rd, Reading.

Working pattern or hours:

Flexible working options available to be discussed with the successful candidate at interview stage.

Other requirements for the role:

Ability to travel to sites across our entire Thames Water area for training & team building.

What you should bring to the role
  • Experience in IT and extensive database searching.
  • A Level 3 higher education qualification in IT (or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
  • Experience with AI search systems.
  • Ability to travel to sites across our entire Thames Water area for training & team building.
  • Relevant experience in an applicable sector, technical position or knowledge of wastewater and/or clean water processes would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience or working with legal privilege is desirable.
