Job description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a mid-level associate to join the Financial Services & Regulatory team of a leading international firm in the British Virgin Islands. Working as part of a collaborative global group, the successful candidate will support the continued development of a busy transactional and advisory regulatory practice spanning both contentious and non-contentious work.

You will work alongside experienced lawyers across the Americas, Asia, and Europe, advising on a range of regulatory matters including AML, sanctions, licensing, fintech, and cross-border compliance. The team also advises on emerging areas such as data protection, tax, and AI regulation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support senior lawyers and partners in delivering complex cross-border regulatory and financial services advice.
  • Engage with clients and regulators across multiple jurisdictions on both advisory and contentious matters.
  • Contribute to the development and expansion of the FS & Regulatory offering in the Caribbean and internationally.
  • Participate in training, business development, and knowledge sharing across the network.

Candidate Requirements:

  • 2–4 years’ PQE gained at a leading international firm (Magic/Silver Circle or equivalent).
  • Strong academic background from a Russell Group (or equivalent) university.
  • Experience in financial services regulation (advisory or contentious) preferred, though backgrounds in tax, competition or data protection/AI regulation will also be considered.
  • Eligible to practice in the BVI (admitted in England & Wales, Scotland, or a Caribbean jurisdiction).
  • Solid knowledge of UK and/or EU regulatory regimes.

This position offers the chance to escape the rigidity of onshore practice while continuing to develop your expertise in a sophisticated regulatory environment, all within a stunning offshore setting. A highly attractive financial package, low-tax lifestyle, and clear career trajectory are on offer.
