Are you looking for a career where you can grow your skills, gain a nationally recognised qualification, and help protect public health and wellbeing? Then this Regulatory Compliance Apprenticeship could be your perfect starting point.

We are seeking one apprentice to join our Environmental Protection team and one to join our Private Sector Housing team. We are looking for enthusiastic, curious, and committed individuals to join our Environmental Health team. This is a unique opportunity to get involved in inspecting properties, monitoring health and safety, helping businesses comply with legislation, and investigating complaints from residents.

As part of your apprenticeship, you’ll receive full training to support the delivery of our environmental health services, including:

  1. Responding to complaints and service requests from residents and businesses
  2. Visiting homes and premises to assess conditions and gather evidence
  3. Inspecting properties, identifying risks, and helping to ensure legal compliance
  4. Assisting in writing clear, evidence-based reports and case notes
  5. Liaising with internal teams and external partners to resolve issues
  6. Supporting enforcement actions and advising businesses on good practices
  7. Keeping records up-to-date using our digital systems
  8. Getting involved in projects, policy development, and emergency planning work

It is essential that you have a genuine interest in health, safety, housing, or environmental standards, a positive attitude, and a proactive, problem-solving mindset. Additionally, you should have:

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
  • Good IT and organisational skills

You will need a full UK driving licence, access to a car, and a willingness to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends. You should also be physically able to carry out site visits (e.g., lifting covers, using ladders).

It is essential that you are committed to personal development, as you will be studying for a Regulatory Compliance Officer apprenticeship, which is a nationally recognised Level 4 apprenticeship. You will receive mentoring and support from experienced professionals.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Trevor Ford at 01233 330397 or Gary Clarke at 01233 330624.
