Overview

The purpose of this role is to support the UK Regulatory Affairs Director and the Compliance Director (Regulatory Affairs Team) in delivering a robust regulatory approval process and timely regulatory reporting to ensure Gallagher meets its regulatory obligations. A guiding principle of this role is to balance business opportunities and commercial considerations with compliance risks to maximize corporate performance and minimize financial, regulatory, and reputational losses.

How you'll make an impact

Regulatory Approvals

  • Support, advise, and guide on FCA SMCR interpretation for solo regulated firms, collaborating with the Compliance Director and Regulatory Affairs Team.
  • Represent Compliance on the SMCR Working Group, preparing agenda/meeting packs, minutes, and follow-up actions.
  • Assist in preparing FCA Senior Manager applications and Statements of Responsibility, including document coordination and drafting SMCR training materials.
  • Lead in managing the Corporater system related to SMCR, GFSC, and JFSC workflows, reporting, and records.
  • Coordinate and prepare applications for regulatory jurisdictions outside FCA, such as GFSC and JFSC.
  • Develop and document processes for applications related to GFSC and JFSC.
  • Manage license and approval applications, including changes and maintaining records.
  • Perform annual reconciliation of Corporater Records against Gallagher Management Responsibility Maps and FCA Register, reporting to the SMCR Working Group.

Regulatory Reporting

  • Collaborate with the GCoE Risk & Compliance team to prepare and submit FCA RMAR and other regulatory returns, ensuring proper record-keeping and evidence.
  • Investigate and resolve data variances and reporting issues, escalating complex problems appropriately.

Lloyd’s Approvals

  • Manage Lloyd’s Non-Underwriting Working Members nomination and approval process annually.
  • Oversee activities related to Lloyd’s Passes, reviewing and signing off applications with the GCoE Risk Team.

Other Activities

  • Assist with SOP reviews and maintenance, regulatory invoice reviews, and support internal audits and regulatory assurance reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with Gallagher’s Professional Standards manual and stay updated on regulatory initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and regulators.
About You
  • Excellent knowledge of FCA rules and their application to insurance brokers.
  • Experience with the Senior Management & Certification Regime.
  • Technical knowledge of UK regulatory framework for insurance brokers.
  • Understanding of current regulatory developments affecting insurance brokers.
  • Ability to quickly learn new subjects and produce high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Experience communicating with the FCA and familiarity with FCA Connect and RegData systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
