Job Title: Regulatory Technologist – Cosmetics & Beauty

Job Type: Full-time - Permanent position

Cpl is collaborating with a growing beauty and skincare company with a large customer base, including high street retailers worldwide, online fashion retailers, and licensed products. The focus is on colour cosmetics, skincare, hair care, body care, and fragrances.

The company seeks a Regulatory Technologist to join a dynamic team in Northwest England, designing and manufacturing private label and branded cosmetic products from concept to delivery.

The regulatory team ensures compliance with regulations and meets customer needs, maintaining high standards of quality and commerciality. The role involves working closely with Brand, NPD, Manufacturing, Laboratory, and Commercial teams to support new formulations and maintain the product portfolio.

Main areas of responsibility:
Regulatory Compliance:
  • Assess and ensure compliance of cosmetic products with regulations.
  • Meet customer requirements, including standards set by The Vegan Society, Cruelty Free International, and RSPO.
  • Prepare, review, and submit regulatory documents.
  • Stay updated on legislative changes affecting cosmetics.
Documentation and Submissions:
  • Maintain regulatory policies and processes for global products.
  • Develop and manage Cosmetic Product Information Files (PIFs) and Safety Reports (CPSRs).
  • Ensure accuracy of scientific and legal documentation.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work with product development, quality control, and research teams.
  • Advise on regulatory requirements for new and existing products.
  • Respond to regulatory agency requests.
Strategic Planning:
  • Conduct impact assessments for product changes.
  • Manage regulatory horizon scanning to stay ahead of changes.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate risks and facilitate product launches.
Quality Assurance:
  • Participate in audits to ensure compliance.
  • Keep detailed records of regulatory activities.
Essential Requirements/Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years' experience in cosmetic regulatory affairs, ideally with global exposure.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize conflicting tasks.
  • Experience with labeling and artwork.
  • Experience managing NPD activities in global markets.
  • Confidence in the cosmetics market.
