Regulatory Affairs Advisor - Electricity Markets

Location: Berlin, with hybrid working

Do you want to join a pioneering company developing critical cross-border renewable energy and electricity infrastructure? Turner Lovell is recruiting for an entrepreneurial energy infrastructure developer specializing in international electricity transmission, HVDC interconnectors, and offshore wind. Our client is executing ambitious projects across Europe and the USA that are fundamental to achieving climate goals.

As Regulatory Affairs Advisor for one of their flagship European projects, you'll support the leadership team with expert guidance on regulatory developments affecting German and wider EU energy markets. You'll be at the intersection of policy and implementation, helping shape the future of energy in Germany and beyond.

This role offers a unique opportunity to become part of one of Europe's leading utility groups (start-up developer).

You'll collaborate with exceptional international colleagues while developing an expanding portfolio of electricity transmission and renewable energy connection projects, thus transforming the European energy landscape.

Role responsibilities:
  1. Assist with government and regulator engagement to advance electricity and renewable energy projects.
  2. Engage with BNetzA and other government/regulator stakeholders to promote cross-border energy solutions.
  3. Deliver regulatory insights to leadership on German and EU market developments.
  4. Draft responses to German consultations on EnWG and EU frameworks including RED III and Ten-E.
  5. Contribute to project strategies aligned with Germany's Energiewende priorities.
  6. Build relationships with German industry associations and policy stakeholders.
  7. Monitor EU legislation critical to electricity interconnectors and NetZero projects.
  8. Collaborate on regulatory initiatives across EU energy markets.
Ideal background:
  • 3+ years in energy policy and regulatory affairs in the German market.
  • Degree, Masters, Diploma in economics, law, politics, engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with German electricity grid regulation, HVDC interconnectors, or renewable projects.
  • Working knowledge of EU Ten-E, RED III, and EnWG legislative frameworks.
  • Understanding of Germany's energy market structure and network development plans.
  • Fluency in both German and English, with outstanding communication skills.
  • Experience contributing to regulatory consultations.
