Join the Licensing Team at Westmorland and Furness Council as a Regulation and Compliance Assistant. This role involves administration and processing of licensing applications, ensuring compliance with legislation, and providing excellent customer service. You will develop a wide range of skills while managing a high volume of work in a supportive environment.
This is an exciting opportunity for you to join the Licensing Team within Westmorland and Furness Council, as a Regulation and Compliance Assistant, based at Voreda House, Penrith.
In this role you will work alongside Regulation and Compliance Officers and other Assistants to protectpublicsafety through our licensing service. This role requires taking responsibility for resolving issues as efficiently and effectively as possible on a wide range of technical, statutory and non-statutory activities which helps the team ensure that licences are determined and issued in a timely manner. Your role will primarily involve administration and will include the processing of applications for various licensing functions including but not limited to alcohol and entertainment premises, gambling, taxis and private hire and charitable collections.
The service focuses on promotion of licensing objectives, consultation, investigation, multi partnership working, prevention, education and where required enforcement.
You’ll be joining a dedicated team, who handle a high volume of work, and you will act as the single point of contact throughout the applicants journey managing and resolving issues as they arise. Many of the applications we receive are time critical and you will be expected to manage your workload and prioritize accordingly. We will help you to develop a wide range of skills, knowledge and in some instances, qualifications, required to undertake the role.
Who we are looking for…
Demonstrating a professional approach in responding to and resolving service requests from both internal and external customers by applying technical knowledge, business rules, statutory guidance, and established systems and workflows, while maintaining attention to detail, accuracy, and a strong customer focus to deliver high service standards efficiently and effectively; supported by extensive experience in customer-focused service roles, a solid understanding of legislation, case management, and complex case handling, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, ICT, and compliance skills.
