We are looking to appoint enthusiastic and forward thinking doctors to the post of Registrar in Clinical Oncology.
In order to fulfil the responsibilities of the post the appointee will be required to demonstrate that they have experience in oncological management, and preferably will have MRCP or equivalent. The post may also be attractive to a candidate preparing for FRCR.
The post would be particularly suitable for experienced international oncologists wishing to gain further specialist experience in an international tertiary centre. The post could also be tailored to an experienced medical doctor who having completed Foundation and Core Medical competencies (or equivalent), wish to gain a period of focused experience and training in Clinical Oncology before pursuing ST3 training.
The specialty of Clinical Oncology comprises management of cancer using both radiotherapy and systemic therapy (chemotherapy, hormone therapy and biological agents). It offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in managing cancer patients and engaging in clinical research and academia. A multidisciplinary team approach and effective communication is integral to the specialty of oncology. Most of an average week is spent in outpatient clinics, prescribing chemotherapy, planning radiotherapy and inpatient care.
